ENVIRONMENT AND ENERGY

Barack Obama:
Barack Obama plans to do a lot of things to insure that Americans are not paying to much at the pump, and that Global Warming does not occupy the Earth any longer. An Obama/Biden administration wants to provide short term relief to American families, eliminate our current imports from the middle east and Venezuela within 10 years, create millions of new green jobs, and reduce our greenhouse gas emissions 80 percent by 2050. A main act in the first step, is to "Crack Down on Excessive Energy Speculation." A very important part of step two, would be to "Get 1 Million Plug-In Hybrid Cars on the Road by 2015." In step three, a vital part is to "Ensure 10 percent of Our Electricity Comes from Renewable Sources by 2012, and 25 percent by 2025."
Step four suggests that the U.S. take a stand by making the U.S. a leader with climate change.

John McCain:

A McCain/Palin administration proposes something called the Lexington Project. This project includes six main ideas in managing climate change, the environment, and energy. These are:

  • Expanding Domestic Oil and Natural Gas Exploration and Production
  • Taking Action Now to break our dependency on Foreign Oil by Reforming our transportation sector
  • Investing in clean, alternative, sources of energy
  • Protecting our environment by adressing climate change
  • Promoting Energy Efficiency
  • Adressing Speculative Pricing of Oil
